Rio Ferdinand hits back at Paul Ince for what he said about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
old boy Ince played down the way Solskjaer has transformed Man United, claiming he could have done the same
Paul Ince was wrong to claim any Manchester United old boy could have gone in and turned it around in the way Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done, says Rio Ferdinand.
Former United star Ince has said: “I could have gone in and done the same thing, so could Steve Bruce. Anyone could have gone in and done what he has done, it wasn’t a hard thing to do to give those players freedom and improve the mood.”
But Ferdinand hit back by saying: “I don’t agree with that, because one of the most decorated managers of our generation, Jose Mourinho, failed.
"He couldn’t lift the place, couldn’t lift the players.
“Louis van Gaal, one of the most experienced managers on the circuit, couldn’t do it. David Moyes, a fully-fledged Premier League manager, couldn’t do it.
“To change the mentality, the dynamics and ambience of the changing room isn’t an easy thing to do.”
